A church made of iron

About Bulgarian St Stephen Church

The Bulgarian St Stephen Church is a rare cast-iron church: its prefabricated parts were made in Vienna, shipped down the Danube and assembled on the shore of the Golden Horn, and it was consecrated in 1898. After a long restoration it reopened in 2018 and is a striking sight on the waterfront between Fener and Balat.
